ABOUT THE ORGANISERS

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) is the national authority that registers and is responsible for the administration of IP rights in Singapore. IPOS helps businesses use intangible assets (IA) and IP to grow and is committed to building Singapore into an international IA/IP hub. IPOS is a statutory board under the Ministry of Law.

Dr Lim Jui – CEO, SGInnovate

As CEO of SGInnovate, Dr Lim Jui has overall leadership of the organisation that is committed to helping entrepreneurial scientists build and scale Deep Tech startups. At SGInnovate, Jui and his team work closely with a wide range of partners and co-investors to back this unique group of founders, who are looking to solve global challenges with their research-based solutions. This is done through equity-based investments, access to the Deep Tech ecosystem and talent network, as well as by providing business-building support.

He currently serves on the advisory boards of IPOS International, the business arm of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), and several start-up companies.

Jui received his Bachelor of Arts (BA, Biological Sciences and East Asian Studies) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Columbia University. He then obtained his Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology and Surgical Intensive Care) from NUS. He remains a registered medical practitioner today.

Professor Ng-Loy Wee Loon – Professor, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Ng-Loy Wee Loon is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. She teaches “Law of Intellectual Property” which focuses on Singapore’s IP regime, as well “International Trademark Law and Policy” and “International Copyright Law and Policy”.

Amongst her academic publications is the text on Law of Intellectual Property of Singapore (3rd ed, 2021). Outside of the university, her involvement in the IP landscape of Singapore includes the following: member of the Copyright Tribunal of Singapore; member of the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy Panel; and mediator at the WIPO Arbitration & Mediation Centre. In January 2016, she was appointed honorary Senior Counsel for her special knowledge in law and her contributions to the development of the law and to the legal profession, in particular her assistance to the Court of Appeal in her role as amicus curiae.

Mark Lim – Director, Hearings & Mediation Group / Chief Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS)

Mark is a Director and Chief Legal Counsel at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS”), where he heads the Hearings & Mediation Department.

 

Concurrently, at IPOS International (IP Academy), the training arm of IPOS, Mark oversees the development and curation of training programmes in the area of intellectual property (“IP”) law for the legal community and IP professionals, as well as the public sector in Singapore. Mark is also an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law, where he co-teaches modules on “Foundations of IP Law” and “IP Arbitration.”

 

Mark has more than 25 years of experience in IP, and his work encompasses all areas of IP law. He is regularly consulted on IP matters by various government agencies and invited to speak at both national and international IP conferences. In addition, he has published extensively in leading local and international journals, and provided insights and/or new perspectives on a broad spectrum of IP issues.

Cynthia Woo – Director, Business Development, Louken Group Pte Ltd

Cynthia Woo heads the Business Growth division within Louken Group and has over twelve years of consultancy experience in this field. She is passionate about helping companies leverage, protect and manage their intellectual assets to grow and internationalize their business, and specialises in franchising, licensing and other growth models. She has provided consultancy to a range of industries, ranging from food & beverage, retail, beauty & wellness, education, services and business-to-business.

Cynthia holds the Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law (GCIP) awarded by the National University of Singapore, a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Specialist Diploma in Franchise Management from Ngee Ann Polytechnic & Franchising & Licensing Association Singapore (FLA).

Soh Lengwan – ACE, Enterprise Singapore (ESG)

As the Assistant Chief Executive (Manufacturing & Engineering) of Enterprise Singapore, Leng Wan leads various teams to champion enterprise growth in Singapore’s manufacturing and engineering industries.

The Awards are jointly organised by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the IP agency of the United Nations.

The ARISE Plus Intellectual Property Rights (ARISE+ IPR) project is one of the components under the Enhanced ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the European Union or ARISE Plus. IP Key South-East Asia (SEA) – Phase II is the European Commission’s project to implement the objectives of the European Union (EU) in the field of intellectual property rights (IPRs) through international cooperation with South-East Asian countries, with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
